Why Community College? … For a Dynamic Student Life

Events & Activities

Our community colleges offer a variety of events and activities designed to celebrate, inform, educate, and recognize the resources, opportunities, strengths, and value of our students, communities, state and colleges.

You can check your college’s events calendar for a snapshot of what’s happening around campus. You’re bound to find:

  • Fun Festivals
  • Cultural Events
  • Entrepreneurial Programs
  • Student Leadership
  • Financial Aid Information
  • More…

Sports & Recreation

Many students want college athletics to be part of their college experience.

You will find competitive men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletics programs at most Maryland community colleges. We are part of the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MDJUCO) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Common intercollegiate sports include:
baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, track & field, and volleyball.

Numerous recreational co-ed sports programs add to the fun for everyone.

Arts & Live Performances

You don’t have to travel far to find the arts, live entertainment, and cultural expression. Your local community college has more to offer than you probably know.

Student artists can create, display and perform their art.

Community members can attend affordable, local live performances, and visit uncrowded galleries featuring works by both guest and student artists.

  • Classic and modern theater
  • Concerts
  • Dance
  • Special Events & Guests

Clubs, Leadership & Service

You can get involved in so much more than academics at community college.

  • Joining a club will enrich your college experience while connecting you with fellow students.
  • Service opportunities can be rewarding and help you see the difference a few people can make.
  • Involvement in a variety of organizations and activities can give you valuable experiences and develop skills you can use in the work world.
