Shutdown but Not Shut Out

Many of Maryland’s community college students were financially impacted by the recent federal government shutdown. Without income, and with a new semester starting, many students, or parents of students, were unable to pay tuition due and wondered if they could continue their studies.

But our community colleges leapt to assist and developed several measures to allow students to continue their studies uninterrupted, and even helped to connect many students to social services they may never have needed before.
