2019 Legislative Recap

2019 was an eventful legislative session.

The session started with a 32% turnover among senators and delegates due to the November 2018 election.  It ended with the passing of Speaker Michael E. Busch, a staunch supporter of community colleges and a friend to those of us at MACC. He will be missed.

During the session the community colleges had several wins and a loss. We amended key portions of the Community College Promise Scholarship program, obtained funding for the Facilities Renewal Grant. But our request for funding for disability support services unfortunately failed.
