"Coming to Harford Community College is one of the best decisions I have ever made, both socially and academically."
My name is Farai Chiridza and I am an international student-athlete from Harare, Zimbabwe. Growing up, two things always stood out to me – school and tennis.
I needed to find the school that was just right for me. George Budelis, the Head Tennis Coach at Harford Community College, was one of the first who wrote me back, encouraging me to study there and join the tennis team. A specific area of study that interested me, as well as a low tuition rate that I could comfortably afford, persuaded me to visit the school. At HCC I major in Graphic Design and I also am captain of the tennis team.
The faculty and staff here at Harford Community College have developed a perfect learning environment. The professors structure their classes in a format that challenges students while the various clubs, organizations, and activities on campus build student life and develop campus spirit! Coming to Harford Community College is one of the best decisions I have ever made, both socially and academically.
“After a year of hard work and determination, I’m finally about to take the Certified Professional Coder examination. Thanks to Harford’s Medical Coding program, not only did I get the specialized training and exceptional education needed for a career in the field, I was also privileged to become a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), the nation's largest training and credentialing organization for the business side of medicine. The AAPC keeps me up-to-date on all the latest changes in the medical coding industry, which is essential in this field.
I am so grateful for the GED Scholarship Program at Harford Community College, without which I would not have qualified for specialized training. The program has given me a future to look forward to. Not only did it help me to achieve mygoals, it also gave me a new level of self-confidence I’ve never experienced before. It's a great feeling to know that, given the opportunity, I can succeed. I have never been more proud of myself. I can only hope that the GED Scholarship Program, and others like it, will continue so that other people can benefit as much as I have.”
